Now Playing:  Smooth Jazz In The Mix Vol 5

Smooth Jazz In The Mix Vol 5 is the fifth installment in the series. This is perfect for your dinner party!!  Let’s kick this one off with Bernie Williams–Yes the Bernie Williams that played with the Yankees! Who knew he was a double threat!? The album, “Moving Forward” has some nice Latin Grooves, so be sure to pick it up. We continue with some of the smooth Jazz All Stars, including guitarists Norman Brown, Jonathan Butler, George Benson, Peter White and Steve Oliver. Of course we have the horns represented by Euge Groove and Boney James.
There are a few older tracks in play here: Gerald Albright’s “This Is For The Lover In You” is a remake of the Shalamar classic, which happens to be my favorite song of all time. Howard Hewett supplies the vocals. “Chant” by Fourplay is another classic. It is more of a traditional Jazz cut but with a funk edge. Dave Koz “You Make Me Smile” is a track I had to add to the mix as it is one of my all time favorites! This track is off of the “Lucky Man”album which also included “Faces of the Heart,” a track that all of the daytime drama (Soap Opera) fans will recognize it as the opening song for General Hospital.
Two newcomers to the mix include Maysa and Darren Rahn. Maysa’s smooth vocals may sound familiar if you are a fan of Incognito. You definitely should check out some of her albums as you will not be disappointed. Darren Rahn’s album is a must have if you like Sax!  His tracks have a funk base, and if you have a funky base you are great in my book!
So….enjoy Smooth Jazz In The Mix Vol 5
