The Sound of Philadelphia is just straight legendary. The architects of the sound are the incomparable Leon Huff and Kenny Gamble. Of course there are other artists that we can include in the mix, such as Patti Labelle, Boyz II Men and Daryl Hall & John Oates.

Butch Ingram has put together a compilation with newer versions of some of the classic Philly tracks that is a part of the soundtrack of many of our lives.

The album is called Butch Ingram Presents Philly Classics, Vol. 3, and just like volumes 1 and 2, the goal was to modernize some of the classic Philly songs, while retaining that old school feel.

Mission accomplished!

The sound is a combination of Smooth Jazz and R&B, and the mix really works. On the jazz tip, you have the Stylistics classic, Hurry Up This Way Again.

Another jazz version that works really well is Use Ta Be My Girl. No lead vocal here, but we know you add your own to that mix.

Of course you can go with a vocal/instrumental version of Mighty Love

Overall, the musicianship is tight throughout, and we recommend the album for your outdoor grilling playlist. The weather is warming up, so we anticipate more get togethers as the summer months arrive.

This is Volume 3, so be to also check out Volumes 1 and 2.
