The highly anticipated follow-up to his Top 5 Billboard, #1 RadioWave single “Moon Goddess,” Michael Lington’s “South Bay” is a playful and free-spirited, spontaneous feeling homage to the casual, lighthearted energy of the coastal region of Los Angeles where the veteran saxophonist used to live and wrote the song before moving to his current home in San Diego County.
Co-written by Lington, Grammy winning guitarist/producer Paul Brown and guitarist Shane Theriot and produced by Brown, “South Bay”’s sassy, strutting sax melody rolls over an edgy light funk crunch groove, offering an infectious coolness punctuated by waves of Lington’s trademark soaring emotion. While mixing the track, Brown – whose fiery electric guitar solo is a highlight – told the saxophonist that he felt “South Bay” could become a signature tune for him. This past June, Lington debuted “South Bay” live at Brian Culbertson’s Napa Valley Getaway – and instantly inspired everyone to get up and dance. It’s yet another example of the saxophonist fulfilling his mission to be relatable, connect with people and leave everyone with a feeling of joy.
