This Smooth Jazz Rising Star has one of the most compelling stories of Jazz that you will ever hear. A young woman with an old soul…raised by music lovers who introduced her to the legends before she could walk…Kirk Whalum, Bob James and Gerald Albright, to name a few.
Ms. Ghent managed to find time and energy to learn to play the saxophone, practice and rehearse relentlessly, earning two scholarships and a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in music. This full time educator is barely in her mid 20s and already recording her third album of Contemporary Jazz!
On the heels of an extraordinary year in 2017, Jaz, as her friends and family call her, won Smooth Jazz Artist of the Year as voted by industry professionals on the Smooth Jazz Network. In addition, she played more critically acclaimed festivals and events than many artists who have been in the industry twice as long.
At Art Good’s Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival, the producer exclaimed that she could really play! She sold more CDs than any other performer at the entire event and Good has invited her back this year, something he rarely does two years in a row.
2017 joined Jazmin with Double Grammy Winner Paul Brown for two Top 10 Hits including a sizzling cover of Adele’s “Hello” and a holiday jazz version of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”.
2018 leaves this incredible talent at the threshold of a new adventure with so many new friends and supporters, including iconic Smooth Jazz stars that she will be playing with this year: Nathan East for one in California as she opens for the bass hero in May in Sacramento! Jazmin will also make her European debut as a performer as she appears at the 7th Annual Mallorca Smooth Jazz Festival in Spain.
