Kenny G Miracles Holidays and Hits Tour
You know we have been in the Christmas spirit for some time now. See HERE and HERE. Well, Kenny G will be out on the road to grace us with his interpretations of the standard Christmas classics, as well as many of his greatest hits.
For many people, Kenny G was their introduction of what we call “Smooth Jazz.” This is probably because he crossed over to the pop genre in 1986 with the Duotones album. This release included the mega-instrumental hit, Songbird, which hit #4 on the US Hot 100. The two vocal tracks were Don’t Make Me Wait For Love (featuring Lenny Williams of Tower of Power) and What Does It Take (To Win your Love) showed Kenny’s versatility and that he was going to be a force in any genre.
In total, he has released 18 albums, including the 2015 release, Brazilian Nights.
One of my favorite albums is the At Last…The Duets Album, which included collaborations with Daryl Hall, Richard Marx, Yolanda Adams and Chaka Khan. We included Pick Up The Pieces w/David Sanborn in the Smooth Jazz Mix series.
Another great track is the remake of Outkast’s The Way You Move. This features Earth Wind & Fire. You can hear the late great Maurice White with his classic vocal arrangements, and the song has a slight latin twang on it.
Kenny will be performing mainly on the east coast, with stops in Florida and New York. He will also be in Ohio, Illinois and Iowa.
I have been to Iowa, and let me tell you……Dress warm!
