The Hollywood Bowl has released their concert schedule for 2018, and once again they have hit a home run with the artists that they have booked.
If you will be in the Southern California area this year, you MUST attend a concert at this iconic venue.
Trust me, you will not be disappointed.

Diana Ross – June 16th
The legendary Diana Ross will hit the stage on Saturday, June 16th. You know she will break out all of the hits for your listening pleasure. This is considered Opening Night for the Hollywood Bowl concert series.
She will be joined by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
Jennifer Hudson – July 6th, July 7th
Jennifer Hudson will perform on two nights in July. The multi-Grammy Award and Academy Award winner will grace the stage with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. As an all-around entertainer, Ms. Hudson is second to none!
By the way, her current single, Burden Down, is available to stream through your favorite service. You can also watch the music video for the song here.
Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross July 13th, July 14th
This may be the most interesting show on the 2018 schedule. All three of these artists have a full catalog of hits, and quite frankly, I am exited for this one.
With hits like I Keep Forgettin’, Heart To Heart, and Sailing, this will be a night full of classic hits.
Seal with Corinne Bailey Rae – July 18th
Seal‘s current album, Standards, has some gems that offer a current take on some of those old standards that you love so much. Luck Be A Lady and I Put A Spell On You are two that stand out to me.
Corinne Bailey Rae‘s latest is called The Heart Speaks In Whispers. My favorite song is still Put Your Records On. Go listen to that, in case you forgot.
Charlie Wilson and The O’Jays – August 3rd, August 4th
Classic Soul and Funk take center stage as Charlie Wilson and The O’Jays will perform all of the hits. You have it all with this show, smoothed out ballads, gritty funk, and music for the steppers. What else do you want in a concert? The best part? They will perform on two nights, so you have a couple of chances to see the show.
Smooth Summer Jazz – August 19th
As the summer winds down, the Smooth Jazz will keep it hot with the annual Smooth Summer Jazz. It will feature some top flight acts, starting with it’s headliner, Boney James. James is one of the top Jazz/R&B artists out there, and he will play selections from his extensive catalog.
Here is the complete lineup:
- Boney James
- Third World
- Norman Brown & Bobby Caldwell – Love and Soul
- Pieces of a Dream
Queen Latifah and Common – August 22nd
Do you remember when Queen Latifah was a rapper? She was one of the first female MC’s to hit the scene. The track Ladies’ First with Monie Love is still one of my favorite old-school jams. She has seamlessly transitioned from Hip-Hop to R&B to the stage and screen.
Common is also a double threat in the Entertainment Industry. In addition to all of his film work, he continues to record those smoothed out rhymes.
In case you forgot, Latifah and Common starred in the film Just Wright.
George Benson with Ledisi – August 29th
One of the all-time greats will hit the Hollywood Bowl at the end of August. George Benson will perform all of the hits for a special evening of Jazz and R&B. It is hard to choose a favorite, but I am partial to Turn Your Love Around and Give Me The Night. You cannot go wrong with any of the hits, though.
He will also have a couple of guest stars. Ledisi and José James Celebrates Bill Withers will perform, making this a must-see event.
Harry Connick, Jr. – September 7th-9th
Crooner Harry Connick, Jr. will perform for three nights at the Hollywood Bowl. Performances will be a 300th Birthday Celebration for New Orleans. There will also be fireworks. Now you can’t beat that!
