[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The story of the legendary International Pop Star, George Michael, will premiere on Showtime on October 21st at 9pm. The documentary will chronicle his life, on and off the stage. You will see interviews of his famous friends, and learn more about this talented artist’s life.
I have to say that George Michael is one of my favorite artists. The Wham! days in the 80’s produced music that was dated, like Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, and Bad Boys.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/pIgZ7gMze7A” align=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/hktHI4fGydE” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]When I say dated, by no means do I mean inferior. These two tracks embodied the sound of the 1980’s.
There were some classic R&B in that mix, with songs like Everything She Wants and Careless Whisper. Everything She Wants is a song that is still in rotation on many old school radio stations around the country. It is also a song that still works in the clubs.
Careless Whisper was the song that transitioned Michael from Wham! to the solo artist. The full length version has an intro that is second to none.

The album solidified him as one of the premier singer/songwriters of our era.
I Want Your Sex, Hard Day, and Monkey kept the dance floors going, and the slow jams were also on point. Kissing A Fool and Father Figure are both timeless compositions that are also in rotation on adult radio.
Father Figure is perhaps one of the greatest songs ever written.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/gMQjFEh2YOg” align=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/JFEgFG5l_iw” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]There were issues between Michael and Sony records, and I believe that this affected the music that was created. Don’t get me wrong. He released more great songs, but this friction hampered the growth of the artist.
I am sure the documentary will touch on all of that.
I put together a video mix of some of my favorite George Michael songs. For some reason, YouTube will not let me upload…it will let me upload but it is banned worldwide. I have no idea why. There are so many George Michael videos on YouTube, so I do not see a reason why I cannot upload mine.
Anyway, once again the George Michael: Freedom Documentary premieres October 21st at 9pm et/pt.
You can catch it on demand on October 22nd.
