Good evening,
My wife and I have attended the Weekend of Jazz at both Kiawah and The Broadmoor quite a few times. We keep coming back because it is a really special weekend and we always enjoy the entertainment and all the comes with it.
We reserved tickets and rooms at The Broadmoor for the weekend that is coming up. Unfortunately, my wife fell a couple of months ago and even though we had hoped that she would recover sufficiently to allow her to make the trip, that has not happened. So this morning, I called The Broadmoor and canceled our reservation. The Broadmoor decided that missing the weekend was not enough suffering, so they informed me that they would be keeping my $800 deposit since the cancellation was not outside the 30 day period prior to the event. I can understand there being some penalty but this seems almost as excessive as the 30 day period.
I am not sure whether the deposit I made was for the Weekend or for the rooms or some combination of the two, but I am hoping that you might be able to get me some relief in this matter. Please let me know if you can help.
Sorry to hear abut your situation. I really do not know how they deal with the deposit. Maybe try to contact through the Weekend of Jazz website? Here is the link http://www.weekendofjazz.com/broadmoor/contact/
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, with the WOJ now officially suspended until later in the year, I hope that you can recoup your losses, or have the deposit extended to the next event. I hope that your wife is healing and will be able to make the trip! Sincerely, a fellow jazz fan.
