Side 2 Music is proud to present “The Perfect Storm” featuring a quartet of industry veterans on tenor saxophone. On this cutting-edge collaboration, Rahn is joined by a legendary tour de force of saxophonists in Dave Koz, Najee and Everette Harp. All four players let loose on this track, underscored by an all-star rhythm and horn section.
The song, written by Rahn and Koz, was 14 years in the making. Rahn shares that “Dave and I had such a blast writing this one and held onto it for many years as we waited to figure out just the right components that would make this song truly special. We had the idea to arrange it as a sort of modern-day funk/pop/jazz tribute to Woody Herman’s classic, The Four Brothers. After all, what’s better than one sax? Well, four saxes!! Working with Dave, Najee and Everette on this was an absolute dream come true. I grew up listening to them, and studying them as players, so this was the opportunity of a lifetime! As our genre looks to the future, there have been many discussions about what that future looks like. It’s my hope that songs like this can help pave the way forward with a freshness and boldness that keeps listeners interested and excited while also reaching the next generation.”
