[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]On September 29, acclaimed singer, songwriter and community activist Brian Owens will host A Night For Life celebration and tribute concert honoring the music of five time GRAMMY winning artist Michael McDonald at Touhill Performing Arts Center in St. Louis, MO. The concert begins at 7:30PM. Proceeds will support the work and mission of L.I.F.E. Arts Inc.(Leadership, Innovation, Faith and Entrepreneurship), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization launched by Owens in 2014 to provide leadership development for urban youth and young adults pursuing the arts throughout Ferguson and the St. Louis metropolitan area using therapeutic methods to focus on the student’s mental and emotional well being. During A Night For Life, the organization will present its first ever Champion for Life award to a member of the community who has dedicated their life to the development of young people.
Led by Owens and The Deacons of Soul, other special guest performances during A Night For Life include Kennedy Holmes, Peter Martin and Shedrick Mitchell, featuring performances from the original soul of Ferguson and special guest honoree himself — Michael McDonald. Students from the L.I.F.E. Arts program and Pathways Initiatives will also be delivering memorable performances throughout the evening.
“I’ve been talking to Michael for some time about doing a show together for our hometown community and everything just lined up,” says Owens. “I’ve done several tributes to artists who have influenced my life and music over the years, so doing this tribute to Michael was a no brainer. His music is beloved by fans spanning the globe and has been a soundtrack of love and hope for so many, including myself.”
“It’s a special honor for me to participate in the A Night For Life benefit,” adds McDonald. “Knowing how hard all those involved have worked every day to be a part of what makes the Ferguson community great makes it a true privilege for me, not to mention the chance to perform with some of the phenomenal young musical artists it supports. Ferguson will always hold a special place in my heart. As a community it’s faced all kinds of challenges, but I’d like to think that in the end, they will have served to bring us closer to understanding the strength in our diversity and give us a realistic hope for our future generations.”
Owens and McDonald, who both hail from Ferguson, MO, have teamed up on numerous collaborations in the past, including various tour performances and on the hit duet, “For You,” which Owens penned for his Soul of Ferguson album in 2017. They are joining forces once again for this special night of music celebration, which they hope will serve as a launching point for unity among their friends and neighbors, and that it’s the first of what will be an annual expression for their community’s youth, providing pathways for their leadership to be realized.

and is being produced by L.I.F.E. Arts and Life Creative Group.
